COVID 19

COVID-19 Overview

COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by a new virus.  The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus that caused it and stopping the spread through everyday good hygiene practices such as:

  • stay home when sick;
  • students should be 24 hours symptom free prior to returning to school;
  • cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow;
  • wash your hands as frequently as possible;
  • if you cover your mouth or nose with your hand, avoid touching other objects;
  • frequently touched objects such as door knobs, toys, and light switches should be sanitized regularly;
  • avoid putting your hands in your eyes, ears, nose, or mouth;
  • do not share cups, eating utensils, drinks, towels, toothbrushes, etc.
  • use disinfectants to clean classrooms and households regularly; wipe down tables and desks, etc.;

BISD will put mitigative and responsive measures in place in accordance with the guidelines and requirements of our governing agencies.  For relevant information from the Texas Department of Health Services and Texas Education Agency, please access each of the links provided below.
