To make progress in today’s world and prepare our students to be future-ready, our students need to develop a range of abilities including academic and prosocial skills.  Prosocial skill development requires much cognitive, social and emotional proficiency. One way we can help our students in Bellville ISD acquire prosocial skills such as: establishing and maintaining healthy relationships, developing healthy identities, feeling and showing empathy for others, making responsible and caring decisions, managing emotions and behavior, and achieving personal goals is through Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).

Bellville ISD is committed to supporting the whole child, which includes developing social-emotional skills at all age levels; our focus encompasses our youngest learners starting with our early-childhood prekindergarten students, all the way through when students graduate from high school.

Bellville ISD has taken an innovative approach when providing SEL to our students, with consideration given to SEL curriculums that best meet the needs of our learners and appropriate SEL integration throughout the school day at different age levels.  We have incorporated SEL curriculum and instruction into our classrooms, athletics programs, and created a course for students to receive daily targeted SEL instruction.

We know the benefits of teaching SEL will positively impact our students both now and in the future!
